For Fall/Winter 2017, Woolrich John Rich & Bros. launches its first shoe collection – exclusive presentation at Pitti Uomo 91

Woolrich Footwear

Woolrich steps into the world of footwear with a project that echoes the brand’s values and iconic garments, a union of outdoor and urban elements.

The idea for Woolrich shoes came from combining the typical traits of hi-tech outdoor shoes and a contemporary, urban design, bringing sophisticated elements to outdoor models and hi-tech features to city styles. A crossover range characterised by two soles created exclusively for Woolrich by Vibram, a well-known brand for mountain footwear. The first model is based on the legendary “carrarmato” mountain sole, while the other features a brand new sole incorporating the brand’s iconic check as a technical element. The Vibram sole guarantees maximum quality in all conditions and on any terrain with optimal comfort and lightness.

Made in Italy design and attention to detail achieves comfort and lightness through high quality construction and materials, including 60/40 Ramar Cloth, which has always been a symbol of the Arctic Parka. The collection is divided into two model categories: one inspired by the outdoors and the other inspired by the city. From the classic ”running shoes“ available in different versions, from traditional leathers and hi-tech materials, to the traditional mountain Boot, all contemporary footwear classics, revitalised using modern manufacturing techniques.

Set to be the iconic model of the collection is the Hiker Boot, a fusion between a genuine walking boot and a sole that, even with its hi-tech features, can also be worn in the city, thanks to the special Vibram compound.

The limited edition capsule range for Pitti features Made in the USA wool from the Woolrich Mill. The wool pack includes all the men’s models with options in melton blue, plus the women’s version in hunting check. This will be a limited edition range with exclusive distribution.

Woolrich Men’s Fall/Winter 2017 – Roots of the icons: Arctic Parka and Mountain Jacket.

Woolrich has divided the season into two collections, Fall and Winter.

The Fall collection (drawing upon Alpine inspiration) presents garments for the onset of the season, made using high-performance, hi-tech materials, a prelude to Winter, the heart and soul of the snow-capped season, along with a fresh version of a historic Woolrich icon: the Mountain Jacket. Launched by Woolrich in 1976 as an outdoor jacket for mountaineering, the Goretex version became one of the brand’s signature garments in the 1970s and 80s. The legendary design has been refreshed and reinterpreted for the collection with a contemporary fit and high-performance materials such as Goretex® and Storm system to create a new icon of lightweight, high-performance clothing.

The Fall menswear collection is characterised by lightweight fabrics and mountain-wear features that refresh traditional garments, such as the Comfort Jacket and Comfort Shirt, and define new ones by experimenting with high-performance fabrics including the Bomber in woollen Soft Shell and the Shirt in Wool Like Pile. Wool, the DNA of Woolrich, offers thermal performance, water resistance and a high level of breathability. The Storm System® is featured in the new Mountain Jacket, in a blue and grey wool/silk blend, and in the Woolrich Wool Parka in 100% wool. The palette is limited to traditional colours: blue, shades of green, mélange and loden. T-shirts, hoodies and comfortable trousers transform into visibly hi-tech garments with a woollen hand, giving the collection a dynamic balance.

For Winter the brand recalled the roots of the iconic Arctic Parka, created 45 years ago for workers on the Alaskan pipeline, presenting a collection inspired by Alaska that represents the icon’s origins while looking towards the future.

The iconic Arctic Parka DF is joined by the new Arctic Parka No Fur, the lighter City Parka (all made from City Fabric, a hi-tech, water-proof fabric), a new Tone-on-tone Parka, which revolutionises the classic look of the icon making it more sophisticated with its details and tone-on-tone fur. Also new for the icon is the Shearling Polar Parka, which maintains the classic lines of the Arctic with a sheepskin-lined hood.

The Teton capsule, the technical heart of the collection, offers a complete range of products and focuses on performance: from transeasonal garments with applied technology, as seen on the Rudder Jacket, to that of the down-filled garments such as the Expedition Bomber and Explorer Parka. The collaboration with Goretex® continues in the GTX Mountain Parka and JKT, in navy and phantom with hidden fastenings, expanding the range with two new options: a coat and a parka, both available in melton blue.

The palette is lighter: navy is interrupted by royal blue and sand, accompanied by check or camouflage patterns in the same shades. Red and black, like two boldly-played notes in a refined symphony where shapes and colours are mixed together, close the collection both in monochrome and in the brand’s iconic, traditional check.
