Born in Brooklyn in 1941, Fink has been a photographer for almost fifty-one years and a teacher for forty-one years. He has received many awards including two “Guggenheim Fellowships in Photography”, two “National Endowment for the Arts Grants” and two “New York State Council on the Arts” Fellowships.
He has had one-man exhibitions at the “Museum of Modern Art” , the “Whitney Museum of American Art” in New York and the “San Francisco Museum of Modern Art”.
In 1984, Aperture published a book of his work, Social Graces. A new edition of this classic book was published in 2001 by House Books, which has also published two other monographs of Larry's work, Boxing (1997) and Runway(2000), and a catalogue published in 2004, Forbidden Pictures. In 2006, Damiani Editore published a book entitled Somewhere There's Music.
In addition to his own photography and his teaching, Fink has also worked with an international array of publications including The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and Rolling Stone.
